Hanger Steak – A delicious lean cut of meat that similar to a tenderloin and full of flavor and grilled to perfection. Sometimes called the “butcher's cut” because this secret cut of meat was the cut that butchers would keep for their families. Beef has the reputation of being a less-than-healthy food.  However, red meat is not only rich in vitamins and minerals but contains special fats that possess potential anti-carcinogenic properties. The key is moderation and portion control and choosing low-fat options like our hanger steak. With lean beef, you get the nutritional benefits while avoiding much of the saturated fat known to increase the risk for heart disease.
 
Beef is a relatively low-calorie food when compared to the number of nutrients it contains. Beef is extremely nutrient-dense, especially when compared to white meat. While a 3-ounce serving of beef makes up less than 10% of the recommended of daily calories, based on a 2,000-calorie diet, it supplies over 10% of the daily value for nine essential nutrients. With particularly high concentrations of protein, zinc, phosphorus, iron and B-complex vitamins, beef can help build strong muscles, teeth and bones while helping supply energy and oxygen to cells. 
 
A 2002 U.S. Department of Agriculture report showed that it would take more than 11 servings of tuna to provide the amount of zinc in one serving of beef, seven skinless chicken breasts to provide the vitamin B-12 in one serving of beef, 3 cups of raw spinach to provide the iron in one serving of beef and almost 3 chicken breasts to provide the riboflavin in a single serving of beef. According to a 2004 paper published in the "American Journal of Clinical Nutrition," beef also contains conjugated linoleic acid, a fatty acid found to possess anti-carcinogenic properties.
 
Romesco Sauce - a Spanish romesco roasted red pepper sauce.  Traditionally served with fish this Catalan mixture of roasted red peppers and almonds goes perfectly with poultry as well and adds a bright splash of color to your plate. Made with red bell peppers that provide plenty of vitamin C to power up your immune system. Red bell peppers contain several phytochemicals and carotenoids, particularly beta-carotene, which lavish you with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits. The capsaicin in bell peppers reduces ‘bad’ cholesterol, controls diabetes, brings relief from pain and eases inflammation. The sulfur content in bell peppers allows them play a protective role in certain types of cancers and bells are a good source of Vitamin E, which is known to play a key role in keeping skin and hair looking youthful. Bell peppers also contain vitamin B6, which is essential for the health of the nervous system and helps renew cells. Also in our recipe is apple cider vinegar which Improves insulin sensitivity during a high-carb meal by 19-34% and significantly lowers blood glucose and insulin responses.  Given that vinegar lowers blood sugar and insulin levels, it makes sense that it could help you lose weight. Several human studies suggest that vinegar can increase satiety, help you eat fewer calories and even lead to actual pounds lost on the scale. Vinegar along with high-carb meals can increase feelings of fullness and make people eat fewer calories for the rest of the day.
 
Za'atar Oven Fries - Sumac, Sesame Seeds, Sea Salt - Eastern Mediterranean za’atar is an intensely aromatic and ancient spice blend and condiment. The mixture is traditionally made with dried herbs such as marjoram or thyme (the Arabic word za’atar, pronounced ZAH-tahr, also means “thyme”), we make ours with sumac for a vibrant twist. The sumac brightens everything up with citrus tones, but it's also earthy, it makes our fries pop and it goes extremely well with the nuttiness of sesame seeds. Our fries come out of the oven so are a healthy way to enjoy a favorite comfort food.  When you take away the extra fat and deep frying, potato is an exceptionally healthful low calorie, high fiber food that offers significant protection against cardiovascular disease and cancer and are very good source of vitamin B6 and a good source of potassium, copper, vitamin C, manganese, phosphorus, niacin, dietary fiber, and pantothenic acid.
Potatoes also contain a variety of phytonutrients that have antioxidant activity. Among these important health-promoting compounds are carotenoids, flavonoids, and caffeic acid, as well as unique tuber storage proteins, such as patatin, which exhibit activity against free radicals.
Roasted Brussels Sprouts – Oven roasted in olive oil, seasoned with sea salt and preserved with lemon.  Simple, delicious and all natural. Brussels sprouts offer cancer prevention glucosinolates: glucoraphanin, glucobrassicin, sinigrin and gluconasturtiian. Brussels sprouts offer these cancer-preventive components in a unique combination.

Stove Top: (Preferred Method) Bring a pot of water to a boil. Immerse the hanger steak pouch into gently boiling water for about 10 minutes. Add the side dish pouches and boil for an additional 3 minutes. Finally, add the sauce pouch and cook all components for an additional 2 minutes. 

Microwave: Pierce a small hole in each pouch for venting. Place the hanger steak pouch on a microwave safe dish and heat on high for 1 minute, add side dish and sauce pouches and heat on high for an additional 1.5 minutes.

In the event your meal is not fully reheated after removal from the pouches, you may continue reheating in a microwave on a microwave safe dish until done - which should be no more than another minute or two. Appliances vary, adjust accordingly.

Please note: For items without sauces or gravy, cut a hole in corner of pouch and drain excess liquid before plating.

Caution: Pouches and contents will be very hot.
